Large spikes followed by rapid crashes can leave you feeling tired, hungry, irritable, and craving quick sources of sugar or caffeine.

Why Blood Sugar Balance Matters

When blood sugar spikes and then drops quickly, the body perceives this as a stressor and releases cortisol to compensate.

Limiting Processed and Packaged Foods

Whenever possible, prioritise whole, minimally processed foods.

Highly processed foods often contain refined carbohydrates, added sugars, inflammatory oils, and artificial additives. These ingredients can disrupt the body’s natural appetite regulation and lead to rapid blood sugar spikes followed by crashes.

As a result, they can increase cravings, drive overeating, and contribute to fatigue and poor concentration.

Prioritise quality sleep
Aim for 7–8 hours per night, as sleep plays a critical role in regulating blood sugar and hunger hormones.

Move after meals
Research shows that even a 10-15 minute walk after eating can significantly lower blood sugar levels by stimulating muscle activity, which helps cells absorb glucose more efficiently. Walking within 30 minutes of a meal is particularly beneficial.

Eat foods in the right order
Starting meals with vegetables and protein before carbohydrates can slow digestion and glucose absorption, resulting in a smaller blood sugar spike and more stable energy levels.
